AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'You have secret dreams, follow them! Make them come true.’ A mother’s whispered words set in motion a poignant true story. A story of the inspiring journey of a poor peasant boy plucked from the harsh world of rural China during the cultural revolution and thrust into the world of international dance stardom. From Madam Mao’s Beijing Dance Academy at age 11, through to his dramatic defection to America and lastly as a principal in the Australian Ballet in 1995. Li Cunxin’s inspirational courage is theatrically captured using music, spoken word and vivid imagery.
