AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Welcome to La La Land, a fantastical performance presented in promenade, utilizing the evocative performance space Performing Arts Newcastle. La la land will blend the medium of contemporary dance/physical theatre and new writing to explore drug obsession within contemporary culture and its correlations with mental illness. La La Land examines the large-scale chemical control of human behaviour particularly of young people, and the increasing drug interest within Australian culture. La La Land will call to question the medication of children deemed mentally ill, and explore the history of social control through medically sanctioned psychiatric practices.
