Travelling woman tells of encountering the mother of wife in an indigent family she and her husband helped to have a happy Christmas. Narrator now uncovers agent of miscommunication in the family, they are re-united, the traveller is feted by grateful mother, and steady work is found for her husband.
Queensland RNVR officer and brother in WWI, the elder builds revolutionary device to down enemy flying craft but is killed in a Zeppelin raid. The younger brother apparently builds a similar machine and tackles a daylight raid where he succeeds in downing the enemy, but is killed too, and the device is lost.
