AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Penny has just moved to Australia from China. She can hardly speak English. She doesn't know anyone. And horrible cousin Betty is determined to make life at her new school totally miserable. Penny retreats to the art room and her passion: drawing. But there she makes an unusual friend: Mr Whitehorse, who is deaf. And her grandmother gives her a magic Chinese pouch. Now Penny has just one wish to make things right.'

However, Betty resents having to perform this task so translates everything as nonsense. Little Pumpkin worries that she will never learn. When the teacher confiscates the tiny embroidered bag that Nai Nai (grandmother) has given her for good luck Little Pumpkin is reduced to tears of despair.
