The Antipodean was reviewed in the Bulletin in 1927 and described as 'written in Australia, published in London'. It was in fact published in both countries and the aim of the journal, expressed in the preface to the first issue (1892 in England, 1893 in Australia) was 'to form a literary link between the Mother Country and those of her children who live beyond the seas.' Contributors included numerous well-known Australian authors; indeed so many that rhe Bulletin reviewer diapproved of it as being 'run on names, 'made of names'. Among them were Sir Henry Parkes, 'Banjo' Paterson, Rolf Boldrewood, Sir Samuel Griffith, Henry Lawson and the editors themselves.
