  • Editor's note: The Editor's note (p.225) explains that these verses are taken from Mary Anne Allport's sketchbook which she gave to her sister-in-law, Mary Morton Allport, as a parting gift when she emigrated to Hobart. The first four stanzas are from Felicia Hemans' poem 'Song of Emigration' [stanzas 5, 8, 9 and 10]. The remaining lines are unattributed.
