  • Dedication: To Captain Sir William Edward Parry, R.N., F.R.S. etc etc etc.

    The formal dedication is followed by an extended message from the author to Sir William Parry. The message is dated:
    King's School, Parramatta, New South Wales, February, 1833.

  • The author explains that this publication is the first six cantos of what is intended to be a much longer poem.
  • Each canto is preceded by an epigraph.
  • An advertisement announcing the forthcoming publication of this poem was placed in the Sydney Monitor on 5 January 1833. Subscribers were instructed to leave their names at the Reading Room, Pitt Street or at the Australian Stationery Warehouse. Cost of the poem for subscribers was five shillings; for non-subscribers seven shillings and sixpence.
