AbstractHistoryArchive Description

It is 1899. Billy Shanghai Hamilton is the Chinese adopted son of two Thursday Island missionaries. When he is kidnapped by blackbirders, he travels across the seas to work in the pearling industry. In secret diary entries, he records his experiences.
