AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'A fictional Australian television network is the colourful setting for this funny, shocking and surprisingly moving story written anonymously by one who is definitely in the know. Boned traces the stellar career of broadcast journalist Kate Corish. As a starry eyed journalism graduate, Kate is offered an internship at Australia's number one commercial station. Television is a blokes' world but soon Kate is beating the guys at their own game. This girl is more than just eye candy. She's smart, with truckloads of attitude, and she quickly develops into a journalistic force to be reckoned with. Twenty years after she started at the network, Kate is hosting its top-rating weekly current affairs show. And yet, as so often happens in TV land, as Kate approaches her use by date (aka her fortieth birthday), management attempts to bone her. The opening salvo is fired in the press. Kate knows that her boss Mike Ripley is behind the campaign. But rather than just accept her fate, she decides to play the Machiavellian Ripley at his own game ...'--Provided by publisher.
