Playlet.

The day before a young couple Walter and Mary are to be married the bridegroom (a consumptive) becomes aware of the terrible effects that tuberculosis will have on him as the sufferer and on his new wife. Determined not to spoil the life of the woman he loves he commits suicide. The final scene, which takes place just before the wedding is about to commence, sees the bridegroom drink poison following his best man's toast. The Sydney Morning Herald review records that the 'pathos of the play is relieved by the droll humour of Beatty, a domestic' (26 August 1909, p98).
