'The Townsville Sentinel, "the only Liberal paper in the North", is foremost in sneering at the Charters Towers Republican Association. We gather from this and the elegant expression of "tinpot" that the Charters Towers Republicans do not favour the Separation craze.'

  • 'The three liberal papers of Townsville, the Northern Age, North Queensland Telegraph and North Queensland Sentinel, have been floated into a limited liability company, with a capital of £10,000.'
  • A protest from the northern newspapers at an order from the Postmaster-General stating that the English mails are not to be advertised as the Department considers the newspapers should publish this information without being paid for it. The writer suggests the Postmaster-General should accept an equivalent cut in his own salary and calls for the governance from Brisbane to be cut.
