One Bright Spot is the story of Joan 'Ming' Kingsley-Strack during the late 20s to early 40s. The book is based on Ming's diary entries, and letters she sent or received from people and organisations. Ming was an activist in the 1930s campaigning for rights for Indigenous women indentured as servants/slaves for non-Indigenous families.
Notes
By request of the descendants, the names of the four Indigenous Australian women have been changed in One Bright Spot. Aspects of their lives revealed in this book are secrets these women died with.
