Notes

  • Although sung by Ada Reeve in The Gay Parisienne during her 1897-1898 Australian tour, 'Susie-ue' was not one of the numbers written by George Dance and Ivan Caryll for their original musical comedy (first staged in England in 1896 as The Girl from Paris). Bert Gilbert, an established British comedian and songwriter, was married to Reeve during the period in which she toured Australia. It is likely that he wrote the number for Reeve and that it was added to the Australian production on her insistence.
