Notes

  • Editor's note: [The writer] by no means has contemplated a paraphrase (such as Joseph Addison, Isaac Watts, John Wesley, and other pious men have offered to the Publick), but simply an arrangement into metrical English - of the words of the Israelitish Poet. As far as possible, the Author of the following Lines has eschewed all explanation or adaptation of the Originals, and confined himself most guardedly to the literal.
  • Each Psalm is prefaced with a phrase written in Greek.
