  • Described in the author's note (both versions) as being in two parts. In the [194-?] version the end of Part I is dated: 'Written from June, 1941, to December, 1941'; in the [1988?] version: 'Dec. 17th 1941'. In the [194-?] version the end of Part 2 is dated: 'January, 1942, to January, 1943'; in the [1988?] version: 'Written January 1943'. The dates are inserted in the text. The poem is not divided into two distinct parts and reads continuously.
  • The title The Second Australian Independent Company appears over the author's note (p.3 in [194-?] version and p.5 in [1988?] version) and is the title of the second version.
