This work is 'the story of a little boy who lives with his grandfather in a ruined old tower on the South-West Coast [of England]. As he grows up to man's estate he goes through many strange adventures by sea and land, eventually becomes a rich man and marries the love of his early youth, as, of course, he was in duty bound.'
