Notes

  • Dedication: This book is dedicated to Isla without whom it would never have been written. Her lifetime work as a professional highly trained nurse, particularly with the mentally handicapped, has given me the insights into that profession. Her skill and care has [sic] saved my life on more than one occasion. Also remembered is my sister Norma who spent many years as Matron of aged persons Homes and from who I gained knowledge of that dedicated work. Not to be forgotten are my own daughter Margaret and my daughter in-law Ingrid who are still fully trained registered nurses. Not to be overlooked are the lovely young nurses remembered from my distant youthful past, the memories of whom contributed to the early part of the story.
