The author writes: 'Manila Takeaway is a theatrically cohesive and illuminating insight into the lives of Filipina import brides. Doronila avoids judgement, examining rather the nature of love and human longing for companionship, affection and security. The result is a sensitively directed account of the experiences of four women, brought to the isolated mining community and exposed to an alien environment.'
