'One the eve of the 1997 British handover of colonial Hong Kong to China, 'Fragments of Hong Kong' is an intimate journey into the lives of six Hong Kong women whose lives are brought together and changed forever by an unexpected and dramatic event.
'A schoolgirl contemplates suicide. A grandmother joins a democracy movement. A wealthy young real estate agent plans her wedding and dreams about the economic potential of China's "One Country, Two Systems" policy. A journalist asks herself if she has the stamina to continue writing the truth. A wife plays detective, uncovering her philandering husband's most recent affair. And a maid from the Phillipines who has been 10 years in Hong Kong, dreams of going home to be with her family.'
