Notes

  • The first chapter is titled 'Growing Up in Australia', and chapters 7, 8 and 9, titled 'Back to the Bush', 'Our Stone-Age Poor Relations' and 'The Center of Nowhere', relate to a return visit to Australia in 1929. Chapter 16, 'Literary Excursions', mentions a trip to Tasmania from 1948 to 1950.
