Farce.

Arguably one of Horace Bent's most popular sketches, The French Conductor is believed to have been a three-hander originated by Bent, Beaumont Read, and Sam Keenan (q.v.).

  • 1885: Academy of Music, Sydney, 14-20 March / 12-18 October. Producer F. E. Hiscocks ; Troupe Hiscocks Federal Minstrels and Specialty Union ; Cast incl. W. Horace Bent (Cheoniffiuri), Beaumont Read, Sam Keenan.

    1888: Gaiety Theatre, Brisbane, 21-27 April. Producer F. E. Hiscocks ; Troupe Hiscocks' Federal Minstrels and Specialty Union ; Cast: W. Horace Bent, Harry Carroll, Sam Keenan.

    1892: Polytechnic Hall and Royal Museum, Melbourne, 26 March - 1 April. Producer F. E. Hiscocks ; Troupe Hiscocks' Federal Minstrels ; Cast W. Horace Bent, Harry Crawford, George Turner.

    1899: Tivoli Theatre, Sydney, 30 August. Producer Harry Rickards.

    • Presented as part of Bent's testimonial.

    1905: Queen's Hall, Sydney, 27 November - 2 December. Producer Frank Smith. Cast incl. Walter Cottier and Harry Elliott.

    • Likely a revival of Bent's original farce.
