AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'An Encyclopaedia Of Male Homosexual Poetry And Its Reception History attempts to list all significant poets who deal with male homosexuality. Besides poets it covers tropes, critics, editors, bibliographers, translators, journals, booksellers and gay archives holding homo poetry. There are also entries for the religious, historical, social and legal background. It thus covers the collecting, publishing, criticism and reception history of gay male poetry. Major poets such as Whitman and Ginsberg have extensive entries (including the translations of their gay works). Where the physical homosexuality of poets is known it is noted. (CD-ROM cover)
