Notes

  • Dedication: To W. G. B. I offer this Book in trifling acknowledgement of delightful kindness. Wanderer.
  • Author's Preface: This narrative has at least one merit, that of being strictly the truth, as every event and incident herein mentioned actually occurred as stated. The somewhat hard time through which two of the characters went, is in no way exaggerated, and the work first originated from the idea of keeping a Diary, which was started to pass away their time while on the island, with no intention whatever of making it public; but the Diary grew to such a remarkable extent when previous laughable recollections were noted, that on arrival in brisbane, the writer, on showing it to some friends, was persuaded by them to bring it out in the humorous form in which it now appears. Should this story give as much pleasure to the reader as it has already done to the author, he will feel that his time has not been spent in vain. Wanderer.
