Nineteenth-Century Travel Writing
Alfred George Stephens (1865-1933) was an influential literary critic, editor (he was sub-editor of the Bulletin) and publisher. A Queenslander's Travel-Notes chronicled his travels undertaken in 1893; they were originally published in two Queensland newspapers. Stephens chronicled his time in Sydney, New Zealand, the Pacific, North America, Britain, and his return to Sydney. With the exception of the first six pages that relates his time in Sydney, this was chiefly the narrative of an Australian travelling overseas.
