Censorship notes:
Sydney academic Dennis Altman attempted to challenge the prohibition through the Sydney District Court on 16 April 1970, but Mr. Justice Levine was adamant the prohibition should remain. The court report quotes his decision: 'This book is the story of a homosexual, who, after appropriate surgery, pretends he is his own widow and conducts a crusade against men culminating in the violent and sadistic rape of a male. The objection to this book is not because it deals with the perverted behaviour of an aggressive homosexual, but the manner of its treatment of the subject matter'.
