Notes

  • Author's note: This poem commemorates the long awaited re-opening in 1974 of an old railway line some 25 miles in length, between Quorn (where the poet was born) and Port Augusta in South Australia. The line has ben restored by a group of voluntary workers, callen The Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society and does them great credit.
