AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Conspiracies are funny, aren't they? This play has 20 or so and all are hilarious. It also has slow singing, speed speaking, welding, and two gorgeous people in wet bathing suits. Con wants to build a spire, that's all. It's an artistic expression! And the neighbours from hell are not having a bar of it. Death threats, two attempted suicides and more wet bathers round off a marvellous night of extremely unusual entertainment.' Source: www.jwcoca.qld.gov.au (Sighted 28/02/2007).

Notes

  • Presented as part of the 'emergeproject of New Performances which is an exciting partnership between The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (JWC) and Switchboard Arts, showcasing new companies, creations, events and artists in Brisbane's performing arts scene, emerge will provide opportunities for local writers, actors, directors, performance artists, mixed media creators, designers, film makers and others involved in any mode of performance to show their work in the Centre's excellent facilities, with professional support from its staff.

emerge aims to bring quality concepts and performance standards to audiences with inexpensive ticket prices (even cheaper booked online) so that new work is easily accesible. The emergeproject will encourage audiences to enjoy new performance work alongside the exciting professional programs at JWC. This chance to develop and show emerging work in a major contemporary arts centre will enhance the development of local performing arts workers in all areas of their craft - and to provide JWC audiences with a glimpse of tomorrow.'
