Notes

  • An item advertising Hilda Bridges' serial 'The House with Black Blinds', which was to begin the next day : 'To-morrow we publish the first instalment of a remarkable story by Hilda Bridges, an Australian writer, who has shown considerable power and ingenuity in dealing with tales of mystery. The title, "The House of the Black Blinds" [sic], itself suggests the unusual and the uncanny, and the early introduction to this gloomy dwelling brings the reader face to face with appropriate, though extraordinary, surroundings. It is a house in which anything may happen, and in which very gripping, mysterious, and fearsome things do occur, with startling effects. The interest rises to fever heat in the first chapter, and stays right to the finish.'
