AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Recounts the story of Sestrina, the daughter of the President of the Hayti Republic. In the first part her life is linked with a young English musician and the background comprises a revolution and Voodoo abominations; the rites and superstitions are detailed. In the second part the story shifts to a lonely isle of the South seas afflicted with leprosy. Sestrina is sympathetic to an Hawaiian missionary there although she herself becomes a pagan.' - Miller
