Luke Davies takes issue with the beliefs of UK pyschiatrist, Theodore Dalrymple. Dalrymple, in his book Pharmacological Lies and the Addiction Bureaucracy, argues that common influenza is more serious than drug withdrawl. Davies says that Dalrymple has overlooked the spiritual and emotional aspects of addiction and withdrawl.
