Notes

  • Dedication: To my old chum, Ralph Arderne, these slight sketches are fraternally inscribed. That something in the book may recall to him memories of many days passed in joyous companionship, is the heartfelt desire of The Author. Melbourne, March 1st, 1875.
  • Author's note: Several of these Sketches have appeared in the Australasian newspaper, from time to time, during the past few years, and are now reprinted with the kind permission of the proprietors of that journal.
  • E. Morris Miller's Australian Literature From Its Beginnings to 1935 (1940): 617 comments: 'Reprinted from the Australasian, with preface by G. A. Walstab; with some fictitious presentation.'
