A girl has lived alone for five years after returning from the city where she had gone to be married. She refuses to tell anyone what happened and rejects the attentions of the man who really loves her.
The fuel tank of a man's motorcycle is damaged and he seeks refuge in an isolated house occupied by a composer and his beautiful, but mute, daughter. They play a composition for him which moves him to tears, but when the girl's secret fiancé enters the house her father's insanity is revealed.
