    'These verses were originally sent by me to Dame Sybil Thorndyke when she was in Brisbane, and had expressed her delight at the beauty of the Jacaranda,' writes 'A. H. L. E.'. 'In her letter of thanks and acceptance she expressed her determination to commit them to memory in remembrance of the beauty of Brisbane's flowering trees.'
