AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A reworking of Hans Christian Andersen's classic children's tale (1837), this production was designed to be performed outdoors. The staging also required the use of masks, puppets, huge colourful costumes, a naked fat suit, elaborate sets and props and a stage on top of the Zeal van.

  • 1991 : Hunter Valley primary and secondary schools tour. Prod. Zeal Theatre ; Dir. Stefo Nantsou (q.v.). Cast: Meg Dunn, Alan Gannaway, Stefo Nantsou, Kerry O'Hearn.

    1994 : Fort Scratchley Maritime and Military Museum, Newcastle ; January. Cast: Louise Chapman, Rob Dilley, Jan Hunt, Karen Lantry, Stefo Nanstou.
