"At the meeting in August two particularly interesting papers were delivered, the first by professor E. H. Oliphant on the question 'Shall we follow American leads in story-writing?' the other by Mr. Brian Fitzpatrick, supporting his opinion that 'Australian literature lags behind Australian art.'"
