Perhaps because it was bound with the works of international authors, the book appears to have been confused for the work of a British author. A contemporary review suggested that 'This is quite an exciting story, told briskly and unpretentiously, but the setting, on a Western Australia station, is clearly the work of a writer whose only acquaintance with Australia is through the Flying Doctor series on the B.B.C.'s light programme.'
