AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This study investigates the Australian novel and its relationship with the publishing industry in the United Kingdom. It also explores Australian literature's international profile, as well as the British book industry and its attitude to Australian writing. The study asks why Australian literature is not as successful in the United Kingdom as it could be and investigates possible solutions. Findings based on the results of interviews conducted with members of the publishing industry show that while difficulties exist, the Australian publishing industry is proactively seeking publishing opportunities in Britain.
