Myers writes: "The Feminisation of Literature" on which the women writers advanced their opinions at the September meeting of the Fellowship of Australian Writers, was discussed by men writers on October 18. At times the air was almost electric with wit and epigram, not only from the masculine speakers, but from the ladies who voiced their opinions afterwards. Though mostly satirical, some brilliant comments were made.
"On October 24 the Hon. John Lane Mullins, M.L.C., one of Australia's foremost authorities on the subject, outlined the history attached to Bookplates, or Ex-Libris, as they are more correctly styled, and, by the aid of lantern slides, showed to his audience examples of the work of Australian artists and designers."
