Randolph Bedford comments on the status of Australian literature in 1929: 'Australian literature of 1929 is not written, it is merely talked about by 'critics' whose idea of literary criticism is to use fourscore of personal pronouns to the column. But an Australian literature will come, when Australian writers have the true vision...' (p. 8)
