  • This work is presented in the form of a teacher's diary. The author states in the Preface 'All the characters in this book are fictitious, but every incident recorded as contributing to the maladjustment of children has occurred in my own experience. There is no such school as St. Erskine's except that every city school is, more or less, a St. Erskine's.'
