Notes

  • William Stewart (1769-1854) came to New South Wales in 1821 and was lieutenant-governor of the colony under governors Brisbane and Darling, before joining his regiment in India in 1827. He retired to his estate at Mount Pleasant, near Bathurst, in 1832.
  • Appeared in the Brisbane Courier titled simply 'In Memoriam'.
