Notes

  • These titles are also often listed in frontmatter of many of Macdonnell's works under the heading Mark Hood Espionage.
  • The cover of the books in this series are marked JD followed by their sequence number. This most probably alludes to the pseudonym James Dark under which the works were published in the United States.
  • Hood is introduced in the first book of the series as 'an American educated abroad' (p.28). Frontmatter describes him as 'Mark Hood: racing driver (if no worry to fangio), pipe-smoker, criketer, eats simply, drinks unwisely, and loves immoderately...necessitated by his job to live on his wits, to thrive on danger, to investigate espionage.'
