Traces the Nairn family's experiences during Western Australia's free settlement era from the year, 1829. Speaks of the prosperity flowing from the decision to allow British convicts to be transported to Western Australia, commencing 1850. Also provides background to the causes of the Maori wars, as remembered by members of the Nairn family in New Zealand.
