Notes

  • Written by C.F. Chubb, President of the Ipswich Elocution Class, in honour of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. It was evidently Chubb's intention to read the poem during the Prince's visit to Ipswich, in February 1868, however one contemporary newspaper report suggests that the reading did not take place, due to time constraints.
