'A few years since, Mr J.B.Martin, then C.P.S. of Camden, wrote a series of papers entitled "Reminiscences" giving some interesting sketches of colonial life as it appeared half a century ago, and describing, from scenes which he had witnessed, many things which seem very strange to people in these days. Mr. Martin's papers were published in the form of a pamphlet and had a very rapid sale, and, as now the work cannot be procured at any of our booksellers, a wish has been expressed that the author, or some one commissioned by him, would favour the public with a new edition...'
