Notes

  • Author's note on the ballad: Billy, Edward John Price, lived all his 75 years on the Range top. He was well known and respected. From the day of the honey colored pony till the time of his death he loved horses.
    Another story of that love is told in Tales from the Dandenongs no.4.
    Bert Rivett was injured so badly by the accident described that he would have been abandoned as too far gone to be helped, had it not been for the one word spoken during the afternoon while the doctor studied him.
