On his website, Rick Kennett notes that this novel was based on the short story 'Bottle Green dreams', in which 'Owners of a junk shop discover that an old green bottle, bought with a job lot, has not only brought its own ghosts with it, but also brings to life a long-dead moment in the shop’s past.'
