AbstractHistoryArchive Description

An analysis of the reviews and critical commentary on the 1997 Sydney Theatre Company production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Performed as part of the Festival of the Dreaming in 1997, the play 'juxtaposed an Elizabethan-style Athenian court with a Dreamtime forest world, thereby creating a dialogue between the play's original performative context and a more recent Aboriginal interpretive framework.' (p.15) The play was directed by Noel Tovey.
