The Editorial of this issue of Trident describes the essay as discussing 'the attitude maintained by the typical Australian towards literature and art. This month it is not from the Celts that Mr. Maurice's safety is in danger, but from his own irate countrymen, whom his indictment has in no way spared' (189).
