Notes

  • The architect of Italian unification, Guiseppe Garibaldi, was in exile in 1852. On a voyage from South America to Asia, he stopped at Three Hummock Island in Bass Strait. His visit was commemorated in Tasmania when a small mining town near Scottsdale was named Garibaldi.
